Guide

Washer & dryer buying and hookup guide

Four things to check before you order, so delivery day goes smoothly.

1. Pick the right type

2. Know your dryer hookup

Electric 3-prong, electric 4-prong or gas. See 3-prong vs 4-prong and electric vs gas.

3. Check the washer hookups

You need hot and cold water valves that turn on and off, and a drain standpipe or laundry sink. We bring new fill hoses. If a valve leaks or will not turn, have it fixed before delivery.

4. Measure

Measure the space and every doorway, hall and stairway on the way in. Use our measuring guide.

Buying vs renting

Buying costs less over time. If you only need laundry for a few months, renting may suit you better: MyApplianceRental.com rents a pair for $70 a month or a single appliance for $50 a month.
